What if Lenin does not come up with national self-determination?

Lenin used self-determination to get support from non-Russian minorities, even if he weren't to truly believe in it, it's the most logical choice for the Bolsheviks.

Russia and Germany as allies in an alternate WW1

Why? The whole point of investing in Russia was because they were backwards, AH is not so no reason to loan as much money as they gave to Russia. Russia perfectly shows that who you are allied to doesn't change your policies, just because they're allied to Britain and France absolutely does not...

Just out of interest how were they historically used?

WI: Kühlmann's "Peace Kite" Flies, a Negotiated End to WWI in 1917?

Historically the moment when Makhno retreats to Bolshevik territory was when their alliance ended as he agreed to ally himself with the Greens, the best case scenario for him is that their opponents exhaust themselves and the Reds support Makhno. And with a little bit of luck he can be a threat...

China as a Axis Supporter WWII

I agree that there are reasons to do so but fully joining the Axis doesn't seem like something he wanted to do, it's true that IOTL he had relatively close ties with the USSR but I find it unlikely he joins the Nazis in their crusade against the Soviets. In 1945 they were collecting the...

How powerful could Italy have become by 1940 if it wasn't run by a strutting buffoon?

Before annexing the Sudetenland the German army was very bad and most of the fighting will happen on Austria, and Southern Tirol wasn't a core region of Italy even if it were to become a battleground. And there's basically no way Germany puts the Sudetenland before Austria.

The Eagle's Nest, An Alternate 1812 French Invasion Of Russia TL

What was the quality of these troops? Because if they're troops of the Duchy of Warsaw itself then the quality must be very bad (the duchy was bankrupt and soldiers weren't paid for months).

China as a Axis Supporter WWII

Not all of these divisions come from where the Chinese and Soviets will fight, several divisions were marching either from before Barbarossa or in its (very) early stages and what do you think is more important to Stalin, Moscow or Vladivostok? Plus it's not like Stalin left the Far East...

China as a Axis Supporter WWII

The article specifies that the most important thing were the recruits and not the transferred divisions; the divisions which were diverted for a good part don't come from the fronts where China is most likely to attack. And could you please explain me how the Germans can realistically take...

WI: The League of Nations was structured like the United Nations & ICC?

Assuming that there will be a Security Council (since Britain and France know no one will really oppose them) Japan would probably not be included since they would see no point to do so, the US would probably have the same reaction as OTL and Italy might be included but it's far from certain.

China as a Axis Supporter WWII

If he is pro-German or Hitler sees him as an ally he would be warned, just as Finland was IOTL before Barbarossa. He was very willing to do so, he didn't help the CCP in its struggle for the KMT most of the time and probably viewed it as a lost cause. No...

How powerful could Italy have become by 1940 if it wasn't run by a strutting buffoon?

IIRC at the end of WW2 there was some oil found in the Pianura Padana, you could make them find it in the 30's.

WI: Government of India Act 1935 introduced in 1919

The population in the British Raj still suffered a lot from the war, I doubt they would be very happy about the British if they are responsible for the Bengal Famine, and with better Indo-British relations they might try to conscript Indians (unless they do something else to anger them in the...

WI: Kühlmann's "Peace Kite" Flies, a Negotiated End to WWI in 1917?

The companies who extract raw materials are the ones who profit the most from all of this as colony lost more money than they gave to the state.

China as a Axis Supporter WWII

Why would the KMT align itself with Germany? It seemed to me like Chiang was much more worried about China itself than some anti-communist crusade. What does Japan do instead? Does the civilian government control the military? That no, Chiang wants to remove colonial treaties on China...

WI: Government of India Act 1935 introduced in 1919

I'm not an expert but wouldn't the Indians still not be happy about having to fight WW2 (and famine in Bengal who will definitely break relations between the two) be enough to get independence? Britain has no way of maintaining India in its empire so they would probably still get independence...

How powerful could Italy have become by 1940 if it wasn't run by a strutting buffoon?

That's assuming Nap III gives his support to the Piedmontese when there is Murat-dynasty Kingdom of Naples and Murat and successors could champion themselves as the leaders of the Italian identity, who's more important half of the Italian Peninsula (who is under liberals ITTL) or the Kingdom of...

Radically changing the world's religious landscape without butterflying away Islam

The Sassanids can't take Constantinople, they didn't have a significant navy in the Med at all unlike the Arabs who still failed; which is precisely why Persia cannot win, they're also exhausted and any attempts at a quick end to the war will fail. Even if the Sassanids capture Heraclius around...
